課程概述 |
English Oral Training I (2) continues to focus on developing students’ speaking confidence on a wide range of discussion topics/ issues. Students will engage in various forms of communicative activities, such as news report, presentation, and role-play. |

課程目標 |
The course aims to acquaint students with process and principles of different kinds of discussions. By the end of the course, students will be able to (1) employ effective discussion strategies on a certain topic and (2) work collaboratively with their peers on classroom activities. |

課程要求 |
15% Role play: In a group, students will perform one role play in which they incorporate "Grammar" and "Speaking skill" (of their chosen Units) into the scripts. Students can decide on a topic of their own interest for their groups. Each role play will last about 5-8 minutes. After the performance, students will present the language that they use for the class on the PowerPoint.
20% Topic presentation: Each will lead one individual presentations based on a chosen Unit of the textbook. Students will also creatively incorporate discussion and/or activities into their presentations.
20% News report: Students will sign up and report one piece of news article from an English news website. Students will prepare questions for class discussion.
15% Learning portfolio: At the end of the course, each student will compile and submit one learning portfolio. The portfolio will require presentation PPT slides, self-evaluations, peer reviews, discussion response, and a two-page summary for the overall learning experience.
30% Activities, attitudes, and attendance: Students need to come to each class session on time and engage actively in various speaking-related activities. Your final grade will be lowered if you fail to do so. |
